Affiliate Marketing Start-up

Affiliate marketing is a good business to start if you want to work from home. You can turn it into a full-time job or you can use it to earn extra money. It depends on how much time and effort you are willing to put into your business.

There are a number of affiliate marketers who make thousands and some who make hundreds of thousands of dollars per year as an affiliate. These people have taken the time to learn the business and have created a business plan and a marketing plan. Some purchase ads to sell products while others use free advertising and joint ventures with other affiliate marketers or a combination of all three.

In affiliate marketing, you can earn as you learn. You have to test your advertising methods to see what returns you are getting. If you want to continue to get paid, you have to continue to work.

To get started in affiliate marketing, you need to learn the business. There are a number of books that can get you started. One that I found easy to read and understand is The Super Affiliate Handbook.

Here are some tips on getting started:

Determine Your Interest

You need to determine your interests. What kind of website are you going to publish? Some of the first web sites were only listings of where you could find various products and information. The Internet has grown to be a course of information on just about any topic you can think of. Visitors use the Internet to find information. If your website does not give the information they need, they will move on to another website.

The reigning theme for the Internet is “Content is king.” This means that you need to develop a website which not only sells a product but also provides the consumer with information.

You have to be willing to write about something you know or you have to be willing to research and learn something new. Make a list of your interests and ideas.

Find Your Target Audience

You can not make money if the visitors to your website do not buy a product or click on an ad. Finding your target audience is a step in marketing that has been around for a long time. There is a whole area of business devoted to market research. However, if you are starting out, a simple way to find out if there is a market for your website concept, do a search on Google.

Enter a keyword, your subject, in the search box. Look at the results that are returned. How many paid advertisers are there? Look at the top of the search page and to the right of the search page. Go to the next page and see if there are any paid advertisers. Now, you have to determine if there is too much competition or if the product or service is not viable. There are products on the market, such as Keyword Elite, that can make this easy for you.

Look for Products or Services

Many affiliate marketers start by selling information products. You can find thousands of information products on Clickbank on various topics. You should always examine the product or service before you recommend it. This increases your credibility and will help you to make sales.

Starting on a shoestring budget, it is not always possible to purchase every product you see. You should read reviews and the sales material of each product. Check the product website. Make sure you understand what they are selling and their policies for refunds and returns.

Check the affiliate information for each merchant. You need to know what commission you will be paid, how it will be paid, and when it will be paid. You also want to know whether a cookie is set when a visitor moves from your website to the merchant. It is also important to know how long the cookie will be in effect.

Promote Your Product or Service

As an affiliate marketer, you have to promote your product or service to earn money. Most affiliate programs will provide you with tool, such as banners, text ads, image ads, audio ads, or video ads to promote their product or service. Your focus will be on marketing.

You can market your product or service by writing articles and submitting them to article directories which allow you to link back to your website or you can purchase advertising space.

Your website should include an opt-in method so you can develop a mailing list. You should give something free to visitors to entice them to sign up. A good mailing list will produce income for you.

You have to keep your website updated with fresh content to keep visitors coming back. When you build your mailing list, you need to keep in touch with your subscribers. When you send them an e-mail, do not just send sales information. Provide them with quality information on your theme and they will keep visiting your website and stay a subscriber.

Building an affiliate marketing business can provide a good income for you. You have to work at it.

Build an Effective Affiliate Marketing Website

Category : Uncategorized

Affiliate marketing is not a get rich quick scheme. You have to work at it. You also need multiple streams of income. Depending just on one stream such as selling eBooks or AdSense may not work for you. There are some affiliate marketers who have made thousands of dollars. Few of them will contribute their success to just luck. Most of them worked hard to achieve their success. You have to be patient and if you are and you stick with it, you can reach your goals.

In affiliate marketing you need a good website. Decide on the theme or niche for your website. Look for the products or services that fit your theme and decide which ones you are going to promote. This will help you in the overall design and layout of your website.

You should have a domain name. When deciding on your domain name, look at the products or services you are planning to promote. It is generally thought that a domain name with keywords related to the products or services you are promoting may get you more traffic. There are a number of domain extensions: .com, .info, .org, and so on. The most popular is still .com.

Find a web hosting service that will fit your needs. If you are planning to publish a number of sites, you will want to look at the amount of bandwidth, storage capacity, and other features being offered as well as the price. Some web hosting services will allow you to have a maximum, minimum, or unlimited number of domains on one package. However, it may be best to spread your web sites over a number of different IP addresses if you intend to link them to each other.

Now that you have decided on your theme or niche for your website, know the types of products or services you want to promote, and what hosting is available at a price you can afford, you can start designing your pages.

If you have no experience with html or php, you have two options:

  • You can hire someone to design and program the website for your; or
  • You can purchase a software package such as XSitePro, which makes it easy for you to publish your website.

Another alternative is to purchase niche web sites that have been coded. Most come with private label rights (plr) that you can use to populate your website with its initial content.

If you decide to build your own website by purchasing a software package such as XSitePro, you will also need to learn how to upload your files to your web host. Your hosting account will have instructions on how to do this.

When you build your own website, you are in control of it. You can make changes anytime you want. If you have your website designed by someone else with a software package that requires extensive knowledge of html, you will have to learn it to be able to maintain your site.

It is important that your site be easy to navigate. It is also very important that your website have quality content to attract visitors.

Visitors come to a site to be informed and if you do not provide them with the information they need, they will leave. Interesting articles related to your theme will bring visitors back to your website. Add links to the products you are promoting. You should create pages for the products you are promoting with information regarding the product and its use. Visitors will be more interested in buying if they can get a feel for the offer.

If you have a site that is simple and easy to navigate and have a professional feel, your visitors will be inclined to stay longer. Since you are marketing products, you do not want to have a lot of banner ads that are not related to the products you are promoting. You do not want your website visitors to click on those instead of the ones that will pay you. Too many banners are distracting, also.

Once you have your initial site published, look at it again. Tweak it often by adding new content and changing the way the ads look on your pages. Test placement of the ads to see which works best for you. While you are doing this, you are learning valuable information to help you with your next website.

Be patient and work, you will be successful.

Affiliate Marketing – Tips and Hints Managing and Recruiting

Category : Uncategorized

Online affiliate marketing programs are now seen as one of the most cost effective and practical methods of making money online. For most merchants, implementing an affiliate marketing program costs relatively little and will help generate a sustainable and consistent stream of profitable business.

Affiliate programs are often described as ‘revenue-sharing systems’ and are increasingly being used by firms to market their products or services. One firm (the “merchant” in affiliate parlance) will supply the products and services, whilst the other firm, or individual (the “affiliate”), markets them on their website, via PPC (pay per click) campaigns, email marketing or social/viral techniques, usually, for a percentage of the sales. Affiliate marketing programmes are thus a great way to build and maintain successful reseller relationships whilst only paying for the results. Most programmes now pay on a CPA (Cost Per Action) or a percentage of sales revenue generated, for example when a sale has been made after a click through from an affiliate website.

Arguably the most common way in which to attract new affiliates is to use the affiliate networks such as TradeDoubler, Affiliate Window, Commission Junction and so forth. These offer the advantage of an existing affiliate publisher base. Most serious affiliate publishers will belong to most, if not all, of the affiliate networks. Acting as middlemen in the process, the networks take care of tracking traffic, accounting and reporting revenues and commissions to both merchant and affiliate publisher. They will also provide marketing and promotional support to both parties and most now have fairly sophisticated online interfaces through which everyone can see relevant information. The downside of using the networks is cost. Most networks charge a monthly fee to merchants and often a percentage of commissions.

For those merchants wishing to ‘go it alone’ and seek out their own affiliate publisher base, Internet marketing conferences and seminars are usually a good place to look for serious affiliates. A good example at the time of this writing is the upcoming A4U Expo in London. When meeting potential affiliates you should always look out for people with a track record rather than those making promises. Established online businesses that compliment rather than compete with your own are ideal.

Searching for the right affiliate can be a time-consuming process. Most importantly when searching for a new affiliate, merchants should expect an understanding and knowledge of the industry and target audience. For example, if your product is high quality and at the higher end of the market, you should not look for discount or coupon-based affiliates as this is likely to damage and dilute your brand. Instead, you could, perhaps, look for loyalty or incentive affiliates to market your products.

Affiliate marketing has existed online for some ten years now and merchants are beginning to see a number of scams, known as affiliate fraud. Fraudulent affiliates can mislead merchants into paying them commissions that they shouldn’t be receiving. Such fraudulent activity includes repeated clicks on cost per click programs by adopting sophisticated software that simulates human activity. Pay per lead programmes are also vulnerable with endless false names and nonsensical data provided via lead capture forms to the unwary. Other fraudulent approaches include sales with a high returns level. Not all affiliate programmes/tracking applications handle this particularly well and you may find you have made a net loss by paying and failing to reverse commissions on returns. Worse still, some buyers are found to be deceived into buying products by affiliates using misinformed marketing techniques. These activities lead to negative repercussions for both the merchant and the affiliate network. Finally, PPC campaigns require detailed management and a clear bidding policy to avoid brand name/typo bidding and poor quality arbitrage campaigns from less scrupulous affiliates.

If all of this sounds terribly negative, don’t be alarmed. Most affiliates are honest, hard-working individuals and businesses who will drive good quality traffic – only a small minority are problematic and are relatively easy to identify and deal with.

So, if you have an affiliate program in place and it is not going as planned, you should invest some time in identifying the underlying cause. In most cases, this will be down to affiliate quality and quantity. It is worth looking at a decent affiliate marketing program directory for pointers to further information and, indeed, potential affiliates.

The Simplest & Quickest Way To Start And Profit From Your Own Affiliate Marketing Business Without Making The One Simple Mistake That Stops 99% Of People Being Successful Online.

Just imagine for a moment that I showed you an engine from a high powered racing car, (but the engine was in bits all over the floor) and then asked you to rebuild it leaving you with a box full of tools and nothing else.

You’d probably think I was mad, especially if you have no experience or skills building engines… there’s no way a normal person can pick up the tools from scratch and put together a high-performance race engine from scratch.

What if I tried a different way to you?

As well as giving you a box of tools I gave you a BIG 5000 page manual on how to rebuild the engine.

Would that help?

In most cases … not really.

Who wants to read through a 5000-page manual to learn something from scratch? Plus you still don’t have the knowledge or skills to get started.

In fact, the 5000-page manual can look daunting and will put most people off.

Now Imagine This.

What if I specifically give you …

Each tool you will need, and an explanation of what each tool does and what it is used for.

The parts in the order they will be used labels on each piece to show where it goes.

The 5000-page manual broken down into individual smaller blueprints that give you a step by step guide to follow.

And an experienced mechanic who specializes in high-performance race engines to look and coach you on what to do each step of the way.

With all that help and support tell me … would you be able to do a better job putting the engine together versus struggling to do it all yourself?

Of course, you would AND you’d probably astound yourself with just how good the end result would be!

A Plan, The Right Tools & A Blueprint

The reason I’m sharing this story with you is that it applies to any goal you want to accomplish in life… You need to follow a great plan with the right tools and have a coach or mentor to guide you.

If you don’t have these things in place then you’ll struggle for years and, as many do, ultimately fail.

And if you want your own successful online business then it’s EXACTLY what you need to succeed. Using a great plan and the right tools with someone to help you, you will see the success that most budding online marketers fail to reach.

Keep On Track

A great plan doesn’t mean giving you a 5000-word manual to follow or 500 videos to watch all at once.

It’s all about giving you EXACTLY what you need to do next.

For example …

You don’t need to know the steps you’ll be taking weeks or even months from now … just what to do next.

You don’t need 100’s and 100’s of pages of information you can’t use now.

You don’t need to try and multi-task spinning different plates just to get going and making your first profits.

Now, all of the above may be important in the long term as your business grows, however, for now, they will simply get in the way of what you need to do next … right now.

All you need to do is ask …

What Do I Do Next?

Wouldn’t it be much easier for you to actually get things done if someone simply told you, “here’s what you need to do to get started then, here’s the next step you need to take”?

Make no mistake about it … you need a COMPLETE set of instructions.

But you do NOT need to be overwhelmed with “information overload”. You simply need to know what to do (and how to do it!) in one simple step at a time.

That’s what I’m going to show you today.

But, before we get into that, we probably should talk just a moment about “what is affiliate marketing” in case you’re completely new to the concept.

Here’s what it is…

Affiliate Marketing Is The Quickest Way For
A Beginner Or New Person To Make Money Online

Affiliate marketing is an agreement between a vendor/product owner and an affiliate (you) in which the vendor pays the affiliate a commission for referrals generated through the affiliate’s efforts to promote a uniquely assigned tracking link.

It works like this…

1) You join an affiliate program through their signup process. (Free)

2) You are immediately assigned a unique affiliate tracking link.

3) You promote the affiliate tracking link in a variety of ways. (More on this later)

4) You earn commissions on orders generated through your promotion.

That’s affiliate marketing in a nutshell.

You promote your “affiliate link” and get paid when people click through on your link and buy the product you are promoting.

It’s very easy and fast to get started.

In fact…

You can literally be signed up for an affiliate program in just a few minutes!

But what makes affiliate marketing so desirable – and really separates it from other business models – is what you DO NOT need to have in place…

Here Are Five Reasons Why So Many People Love
This Business Model (And Why You Will Too):

Reason #1: You don’t have to create products. This not only saves you time and money, but you don’t have to store, ship or otherwise handle products either.

Reason #2: You don’t have to deal with delivery, refunds or customer queries. This means you don’t need to set up payment systems, hire customer service representatives or deal with those sorts of hassles. What a relief!

Reason #3: It’s quick and easy to set up. In a matter of a few hours or a few days you can launch your business and start collecting commission payments – nothing could be easier!

Reason #4: You can generate a full-time income. Some affiliate product vendors pay very generous commissions—40%, 60% or even more. Some products are higher priced, others are hot sellers and very popular earning you bigger commissions. The end result? Commission payments that increase up quickly for you!

Reason #5: You don’t need to directly “hard sell” anything. No cold calling, no direct sales, no face-to-face required. All you have to do is load content up into an email autoresponder and put the whole hands-free system on autopilot. Whether you’re busy or just shy, you’ll love this business model!

Being an affiliate is very simple. Your focus is on promoting your affiliate link which in turn will produce you affiliate commissions paid into your bank account.

It doesn’t get easier than that… and that is where I can help you.

Email Marketing Tips and Strategy: Dos and Don’ts

Permission-based email marketing is one of the best ways to build customer relationships and deliver a measurable return on your marketing dollar. It can be a key to higher conversion rates, greater customer satisfaction, and better monetization of existing customers — if it is done well.

With nearly a decade of experience with thousands of customers, Savicom offers the following list of email marketing “Dos” and “Don’ts” to help you maximize the effectiveness of your email marketing campaigns, and to help avoid some common pitfalls:

Promote your email publications on your web site and gather subscriptions to build a qualified prospect list.
Be clear to your recipients when they subscribe about the content and frequency of your mailings, and give recipients the control to choose the type of mailings they want to receive.
Promote email subscriptions with transactions, and store transaction information in your email database. This will allow you to send relevant, targeted messages to your customer base, both to keep your customers informed so they get the most from your products and services, and to remarket with other offerings.
Send email regularly to customers and prospects, and keep your organization “front of mind”.
Include relevant informational content in your emails as well as offers. Adding real value to your content builds trust with your recipients, and keeps recipients interested in your mailings. This translates to reduced list churn and higher conversion rates for your offers.
Use open, click-through, and conversion tracking and reporting to measure the effectiveness of your email campaigns, and continually adapt your email marketing campaigns accordingly.
Use a ‘forward to a friend” feature to increase subscriptions and conversions through pass-alongs.
Segment and target your email list, and customize mailings to match your recipients’ interests. This will minimize unsubscribes as irrelevant messages increase list churn. Controlling list churn is crucial to preserving the value of the database that your organization has invested to build.
Preview and test your messages before sending.
Make sure to process removal requests in a timely fashion.

Fall for “too good to be true” offers. If a company claims they can send your message to 10 Million “opt-in” recipients for a low cost, be very skeptical. Most likely the recipients are not opt-in, and most of your messages will end up in spam filters, bulk email folders, or worse — in the hands of your ISP’s network administrator, who can and will take a company’s web site down if they are seen sending unsolicited email.
Buy a CD containing email addresses and try to send with them. Not only will your response likely be disappointing, it could also cause your ISP to disconnect you from the internet entirely.
Use an email service provider without a strict anti-spam policy. Sending mail through a provider which doesn’t keep spammers off their network will likely result in your messages being widely blocked or discarded simply because many ISPs don’t have the resources to separate good mail from bad.
Use ALL CAPS, $$$ signs, !!!’s or overuse the word “Free”. Such gimmicks will not only reduce your conversion rates and increase your list churn, they will also reduce your overall deliverability as many spam filters automatically discard messages with this type of content.
Using these tips and strategies will give your messages maximum exposure and effectiveness, resulting in a successful email marketing program.
